Screenshot or it didn't happen. The BDS comes from only one place, a dungeon end chest in eotn. All blues/purples/golds in eotn are inscribable.

Edit: deathbane bug? on eotn end chest items?

Its rare, but non-inscribable weapons can drop in Eye of the North. I don't have any screenshots, but I have had purples and blues drop with no inscription slot. Probably about 4-5 total in my year of playing Eye of the North.

Wow, this thread reminded me of my non-max silverwing recurve bow that I had to sell for half the original price... I cried so much on the inside. The fact that anything drops non-max in an end chest is a cruel joke.

It seems kinda like a bug to me. High end chests drop always R9-13 so weapons should be always max dmg and insc. Never seen a Eternal Blade or Draconic aegis lacking 1 dmg/armor ....

I've seen weapon drops that are 1 off on the max, but never only 1 off on the min (hunting for inscribable r7/8's). When the min was 1 off, the max was also at least 1-2 off. This does sound a bit buggy to me. I assume this is dropping in HM as well?

FWIW, 14-28 is 21 avg, 15-28 is 21.5 avg, so ~2.5% lower damage on average...

I've seen many a non-max weapon come from FoW/UW,Also including a few uninscribable, no rare skins though without max damage.

And Afaik the Old deathsbane bug was fixed, so uninscribable seems random to my knowledge...because I've seen a eternal blade with no inherent mod, and then one with a 14^stance.

Damage is derived from requirement, that is all: there is no 'hm' or 'chest' or even 'color' modifier that seems to affect damage ranges.

q8 can get very rarely max (on focii for example).
q9 is mostly max, but not guaranteed.
q10 and larger is guaranteed max.

As i understand it, item generation code starts with rolling req, deriving inherent mods from it, then independently rolling color and deriving exchangeable mods from it.

Taking height advantage into account and raw damage modifiers (asuran scan and such), 0.5 can grow to solid 2 damage per hit, but of course still staying same percentage of damage and dps.

I keep getting that! Hell I got a 14-20 emerald sword from Kathandrax. I was so pissed off I salvaged it. At least it had a perfect +30 fortitude. Had my first dungeon-only max damage drop yesterday though. r11 clockwork scythe ^^

Honestly though, most people hardly pay attention, just find some moron and sell it to him for 150e. I sold a q10 or something that wasn't max for that, since I was scammed out of an Obsidian Edge for it.
